    The Clean Lakes Paddle Challenge will take place on Lake Monona starting at Olin Park in Madison, Wisconsin as part of the Clean Lakes Festival on Saturday, June 6th, 2009.

    10:00 AM – Long Race – 3 laps (12 miles), portages after laps one and two*

    Race rules and regulations:

    • Ages as of race day: C2 Masters, 40+; C1 Masters, 40 – 59; C1 Veterans, 60+; Youth, 15 and under; Juniors, 16 – 18.
    • Only boats meeting USCA Cruiser (4×32) ; proboat (3×27) and Wenonah SCR specs qualify for C2 Racing classes.
    • Any non-racing canoe with a maximum length of 19-feet qualifies for the Stock/Recreation class (the Wenonah Jensen 18 and similar fit into this class).
    • All boats subject to inspection by race officials to verify class
    • Race officials’ decisions on boat qualifications are final.
    • Classes with fewer than 3 entrants may be combined with other classes.
    • United States Canoe Association (USCA) racing rules apply.
    • Only single-bladed paddles allowed in canoe events.
    • The race will take place rain or shine.
    • Participants entered in the short race and fun race are required to wear US Coast Guard approved PFD’s during the race. Participants entered in the long race must have a US Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (pfd) readily accessible. 
    • If you abandon the race, you must advise the safety boat or finish line officials.
    • All entrants must sign a waiver prior to participation.
    • All entrants under 18 must provide parental consent form signed by parent of guardian.
